There
are different types of workplace bullying, which depends upon the
organizational structure and environment; it is not necessary that only one
type is being practiced by the bully, a combination of two or more types is
something which is commonly enforced by the bullies to harm the victim. Some of
the renowned types of workplace bullying are discussed in this part of the
report.
Pair
bullying is one type in which the target is being bullied by two other people
working in the firm. This is difficult to handle as the assault is made not by
a single predator, in most of such cases it has been observed that one person
is usually involved in verbal or physical bullying while the other one acts
passive and just listen or watch the proceedings.Institutional bullying is
regarded as the most humiliating and hurting form of bullying. The reason for
this being is that this something which is so widely practiced in an
organization that it becomes a part in some of the firms and no one actually
cares for this as it has been accepted by the entire organization. In other
kinds of bullying the targeted person has the room to launch a complaint
against the bullies, but in this kind the person has no place of rescue as the
whole institution accepts this overwhelmingly. Working in such fierce
circumstances is often impossible and in most of the cases the target backs out
of the job.
This
is something which is being widely practiced in the organizations by the
seniors, for the mobbing the target employee. This is regarded as one of the
nastiest forms of bullying; in this case what actually happens is that a
vexatious legal act is launched against the target just for punishing or
controlling his actions. This is lethal because as the name suggests this is
something which is legal as per the rules and regulations of the company so it
is pretty much difficult to counter it. In addition to this, the effect of this
on the self esteem of a person is also more the reason for this being is that
mostly the actions taken by the firms are publicized so the target gets more
annoyed and humiliated publicly. Serial bullying can be termed as the most
common type of bullying; in this kind of bullying one person is the epicenter
of all the bad. He bullies either more than one employee simultaneously or opts
for one prey after another one. This person is called a serial bully or a
habitual bully; most of the serial bullies have themselves been a victim of
such kind of behavior in the past so to get that frustration out they tend to
target others.
Residual
Bullying is such form of bullying which continues after the serial bully has
left or has been fired by the management. This is the continuity of the
behavior practiced by the serial bully; it has been observed that most of the
residual bullying in done by the people who belong to the serial bully’s
circle. If the management has fired the serial bully then as revenge his
friends begin to target the victim as they perceive him to be the reason behind
the termination of serial bully. In pressure bullying case, such circumstances
are created that it becomes nearly impossible for the target to work; this is
mostly done by either allocating insufficient resources to the victim or by
making such work schedule for the target which is tough to follow.
